What can Esperya have to say about Italian wine? And according to what standards do we make our selection?
By Esperya’s standards:
1. typicality - wines that are the expression not only of the local physical and geographical conditions (the terroir), but also of the historical and cultural tradition of a specific place or area; and
2. goodness - well made, delicious wines, to be enjoyed first with one’s senses rather than "intellectually". Drinking wine intellectually with a mind focused on judgment risks punishing the senses, forcing them to suffer, in a masochistic vicious circle, what intellectual standards deem "great wine".
The intention in this continuously updated list is to favour wines obtained from native grape varieties, or in any case from grape varieties that have - for clear historical reasons - become deeply-rooted in Italian wine-making traditions, and then to offer you only what we consider the best among these wines.
